Unboxing The 5800 Xpress Music

The above is probably one of the first unboxing videos of the 5800 Xpress Music to have come out. The video comes to us from Russia where the phone had gone on sale for the first time on Wednesday. The Nokia flagship store had a total of 120 units, all of which were sold within 30 minutes with about 900 people putting themselves in the waiting list for the next batch.

Unfortunately, the video is in Russian, but should still give you an idea of what to expect from the retail package of the 5800.

As part of my Birthday celebrations, Nokia today announced that they had started shipping the 5800 Xpress Music in select countries around the world including Russia, Spain, India, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Finland, among others. What such an announcement usually means is that you should start seeing the 5800 in stores near you within a week or two. The price will vary from region to region, however in India it is expected to retail at around the Rs. 21,000 mark. This press release means that we could see the 5800 come out in December itself, and not January like we had earlier heard.

The Nokia Vine application, if you recall, was announced at the same time as the N85 and the N79 and was called ‘Life Vine’. A few months later the application has finally gone live and is available for all of you to have a play with. I have been using it on my E71 as well as the N96 for the past few days and have found it to be a much better alternative to the Sportstracker application when all you want to do is save the path you traveled along with the photos and video you took there. If you want it can also keep track of the music you played while creating the vine.
