I had recently attended a Q&A on three of Nokia’s upcoming innovations - Near Field Communication (NFC), Indoor Positioning and Connected Home, and in a prior post, I had brought you my impressions on NFC, this post will cover the Indoor Positioning. These technologies are part of the legends on display at the Legends Telegraph website.
INDOOR HOME
Fresh from a Q&A on three of Nokia’s upcoming innovations - Near Field Communication (NFC), Indoor Positioning and Connected Home, I bring you my thoughts. These are part of the legends on display at the Legends Telegraph website.

I just came across the above video on the Nokia Press website which gives us a walkthrough of the Nokia Test Centers where they subject devices to extreme tests in order to test the durability of the product. Ever wondered how come your Nokia has the reliability you have come to expect from it? Here’s why. Some of their devices may creak a little, but you have got to admit when you think of solidarity and mobile manufacturers, it is Nokia’s name that pops up.
I have to admit I am a little late on this, but hopefully this post will serve as a reminder in case you guys are missing out. The latest Global campaign N-Gage ‘Reset Generation’ went live late last month.
As a big incentive for the first 500 Ambassadors to who sign up for this campaign, Nokia/S60 will be giving away a free activation code for Reset Generation. I am happy to confirm that there are still plenty left so its not too late. Also up for grabs is a copy of “Star Wars: The Force Unleashed” for the next 12 weeks in you happen to pen the “Report of the Week”.
I’m a little late on both of these, however there is still plenty of time left to enjoy one and get your creative juices flowing for the other. First up is the Nokia Headset Design challenge that asks you to create your own stereo bluetooth headset in any design you want and if it becomes popular, they’ll make it for you. You can design based on existing clickable templates or create from a scratch.
The program we have all been waiting for, is now open for registrations. Nokia Pilots, if you have been living under a rock, offers you an opportunity to be involved in the design, development and/or testing phases of concepts, products and/or services. As a Nokia Pilot, you may get a chance to see the latest products and services before anyone else.
One reason why I love Nokia is because they are so open, right from interactions with product managers to Beta Labs to even sharing visions and stuff that’s not yet reached Beta Labs. The latest in this direction is Nokia Legends, a website that gives us an insight into some of the very cool and futuristic technologies that Nokia is currently working on.
Everything from Location Sensor through to Near Field Communications and Mobile Journalism is there. If you’r not familiar with these terms, just imagine these situations:
This is a quick heads up for those of you who are in India. The registrations for the Nseries Fusions Challenge will close on the 27th of July, Sunday and there are still two days left to register for a chance to win big.
I am sorry, I just couldn’t resist publishing this. This video is the first thing that came to my mind while I was reading Darla’s experience with the iPhone 3G and how she’s back to the trusty Nokia’s; although she isn’t going to blend her iPhone.
My friend Jeb Brilliant of Brilliant Expos has been doing some great work on TopMobile20, a contest site for smartphone software. It is an online contest meant to shine a bright light on the very best smartphone software and in the process help the users learn more about them. The big news is that the contest which opened up in early May is now open till the end of August. So if you are a developer, it’s a fine oppertunity to showcase your application, as the winners will be chosen by a popular vote. For the rest of you, its a good place to check out some nice smartphone software.
