Perhaps for the final time, Nokia has rolled out a new firmware for the Nokia N95 - v31.0.014. The new firmware apparently just brings bug fixes and perhaps an end to the ‘platform hack’. Since the phone doesn’t support UDP (User Data Preservation) make sure you back up the device before you update via the NSU. If you are keen on hacking, hang on to v30 as this firmware has nothing special to offer, no transitions N81 style and so on.

The very likeable N85 has gotten a new firmware v. 11.047 to be precise. We has heard about it a little while ago and the good news is that it is now available via the NSU, which also has gotten an update. The firmware is available across most generic product codes and should slowly be making its way to others. It brings support for the Nokia DVB-H accessory, support for the 16GB microSD and the Nokia application that should automatically check for newer firmwares from now on. For those of you in India, it is likely that Nokia’s given you the shaft and the firmware may take weeks to become available even if you have a SIM free N85. Full changelog below.

Both the E71 and the E66 have been updated to v. 110.07.127 and v. 110.07.126 respectively. This update brings a new versions of Mail For Exchange and Nokia Maps and also includes a number of performance improvements including camera viewfinder orientation, Mail for Exchange synchronisation and browsing.
But before you update, a word of caution- this update kills the ability to ‘hack’ your phone, so if you’re interested in that sort of thing - stay clear. Both Mail For Exchange and Nokia Maps can be updated by stand alone SIS files if that’s some consolation.

Before we get to the nitty gritties of enabling the FM transmitter, in case you are new to the functionality, here’s a small recap of what it does. (Feel, free to skip if you already know what I am talking about).
Well, that was quick. The Nokia N96, fresh from being released mere (days? weeks?) ago, already has its own firmware update. While no one’s sure on what the firmware actually fixed, what’s more important is what the update actually broke: earpiece volume. Ouch.
Meanwhile, owners of the N82 candy bar get a nice, smooth ride to version 30, with updates that include better performance and battery life, Flash Lite 3, Maps 2.0, Share Online, Music player visualizations, and a lot of other sweet fixes.
As usual, get the latest firmware with the Nokia Software Updater PC application.

The update will most likely bring improvements similar to those on the N95 8GB such as full the N-Gage client, Google plug-in for search, Maps 2.0 amongst other improvements and bug fixes. The update is available for 0558752 and 0558655, so if you can’t wait, just change the product code and update.
Like we told you, after being available at Nokia Service Centers for a few days now, the v30.0.018 firmware for the N95 8GB is now available via the NSU. Nokia seems to have made it a habbit, close on the heels of the N95 8GB the Nokia N95 has also received its long awaited firmware update and now stands at v30.0.015. The good news is that the firmware is also available via the NSU. The new UI that the N81 got, hasn’t made it to the N95, although Automatic Screen Rotation has made an appearance.
Will update this post as soon as I have more details.
Another firmware update for the N95 8GB has just been rolled out in the form of v 30.0.018. The firmware is currently only available across Nokia Service Centers and is expected to be available via the NSU in the coming weeks. In case you do not live close to one of these centers and have working knowledge with phoenix, then you can also download and install the firmware yourself.
The update brings Maps 2.0, complete N-Gage support, Nokia Search with Google integration, upgrades to the music player, improvemnts in WiFi performance and Flash Lite 3 performance. Changelog below!
Following on from the N78, the venerable 6220 Classic has received an “over-the-air” update which takes its current firmware version to 3.23. The release v3.23 includes improved stability with Bluetooth (headsets & car kits) and Navigation. The 1.5 MB update is available via the device manager - Menu > Settings > Data Mgr. > Device Manager. Select Options > Check for Updates.
Having tried OTA updates on a N78 I can vouch for their ease of use and user data preservation. Updating is highly advisable and quite a breeze, really. However, a backup never hurts.
After over two months of the NSU being ‘officially unavailable’ for Windows Vista users, support for the Nokia Software Updater is back. For those of you who have not used the XP compatibility mode method, its time to update your phone’s firmware. Download v1.4.49 here. (via - AAS)
