Blackberry Storm: First Impressions

I strolled into my local Verizon store this week to play with the Storm, the new Blackberry phone and latest touch-screen device to hit the marketplace. It looks like the Blackberry Storm is a hit. Verizon has not released any definitive sales numbers yet, but analysts cited by Unstrung put preliminary sales in the range of 100,000 to 120,000 units.

"Checks at Verizon retail outlets affirm stores quickly sold out of the BlackBerry Storm after opening Friday morning, given sizable lineups and pent-up demand," RBC Capital Markets analyst Mike Abramsky said in a note to investors.

Mossberg Reviews the Storm

Walt Mossberg, Personal Technology Columnist for the Wall Street Journal released his review of the new Blackberry Storm last week. You can read it here and also watch a short video where he uses the phone and discusses its strengths and weaknesses vs. the iPhone.

He also provides this handy chart I pasted above that compares the Storm, iPhone and G1. Having read the article and watching the video it's clear that he likes the device.
