Stay Healthy with Cold & Flu Companion Mobile App

Matrixx Initiatives, Inc., makers of Zicam Cold Remedy, today announced the launch of the Zicam Cold & Flu Companion mobile application for the T-Mobile G1.

In time for the start of cold and flu season, this application allows active users to access up-to-date information from any location. The service shows the percentage of sick people in any given zip code, what types of symptoms are most prevalent and which ones to look out for in a specific area. The application also keeps users updated on the latest cold and flu news.

For example, if I type in 98115 into the zipcode I learn that:

Samsung kicks Motorola off the US top spot - is the end nigh for Moto mobile phones?

News today from the Boy Genius Report might well be an indicator of even more bad tidings heading Motorola’s way. Up until now, no matter how badly they did with their international mobile phones, Motorola could at least rely on the American market for sustenance, since they were the number 1 manufacturer in the land of the free.

Not any more, though. Samsung have kicked them off the top spot.

HTC G1: Android Debuts, First Impressions

To begin, it must be noted the author is an iPhone addict, and duly biased. And, this review will pit the G1 vs. the iPhone in many regards. The photo shown here was taken with the iPhone (yes, the crappy iPhone camera).

Getting up and running was simple and fast: add the SIM card, power on, and configure the GMAIL account you want associated with your phone.

First catch: make sure the GMAIL account you are using is the one you REALLY want to use. After you add the account, there is currently no way to change it other than resetting the phone to factory settings. See the manual on how to do this.

Just Got Our G1

We just got our G1 Android phone and we will be providing a review later. So far I've been playing Pac-Man on the device and it's pretty fun.

I downloaded it from the Android Market, and according to the NY Times, the early download numbers are impressive with the estimate of nearly 3 million downloads in the first week. You can see more data on the number and types of apps on a report from Medialets here.

Glu Launches Two Android Titles

Glu Mobile Inc. (NASDAQ: GLUU) last week announced the launch of two Glu titles, Bonsai Blast and Brain Genius Deluxe, on Android. Both Glu titles are now available in the Android Market and are free to T-Mobile consumers with G1 devices.

1.5M Android Phones Pre-Sold

Apparently the demand for the first Google Android phone is huge. According to multiple blogs, the first shipment of the T-Mobile G1 sold out through pre-orders from existing T-Mobile subscribers, so the company tripled its order to Taiwanese handset maker HTC. The bigger batch sold out, too. That means that about 1.5 million G1s are destined to fill pre-order sales. The carrier is also preparing to have another couple million G1s available at retail stores beginning Oct. 22.

I'm thinking about getting one myself.
